The Full List of Coronavirus Charities that Accept Cryptocurrency

Due to the coronavirus, many of us are stuck at home and experiencing the worst global crises in recent memory. It might be easy to feel helpless due to what’s going on in the world, but the world will get through this, as it always has.

For those of us who want to help but don’t know how, donating crypto to those in need is one way of doing our part in bringing an end to COVID-19.

Most of us crypto users are average people who want to do our part in fighting this invisible enemy and go back to living life normally. So let’s show coronavirus and the world what we’re made of!

(As an added bonus, donating cryptocurrency to a nonprofit lets you deduct your donation from your taxable income. Unlike some other forms of crypto transactions, donating crypto is not a taxable event, so you don’t have to pay capital gains tax either. Your charity of choice will get your full contribution).

Please note that that wasn’t tax advice and that you should consult with your tax advisor for any tax-related questions 🙂

Anyway, here’s the full list of coronavirus charities that accept cryptocurrency.

No Kid Hungry (Making Sure Children Can Eat During Coronavirus) - BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH, ZEC, GUSD, and More - You Can Request to Donate Other Cryptos

No Kids Hungry is a charity that works to end childhood hunger in the United States. 1 in 7 children in the US live with hunger. And more than 2 out of 3 US schoolchildren depend on free or heavily discounted school meals for their daily nutritional needs.

With the closing of schools across the US to slow the spread of coronavirus, poor children have lost access to 370.25 million meals they would have normally received at school.

The Water Project (Clean Water for Sub-Saharan Africa) - BTC, BCH, DAI, ETH, LTC, USDC

The Water Project provides access to clean water across Sub-Saharan Africa. While many of us might have easy access to clean water for drinking and washing hands (one of the main protections against COVID-19), this is not the case in many Sub-Saharan African countries.

Children often have to walk miles (kilometers) each day just to find water in streams and ponds, which is full of disease and makes them and their families sick.

Your donation to The Water Project will help them create and maintain clean water sources during this crisis.

As of writing, clean water for 1 person costs only .0046 BTC.

The Lupus Foundation of America (Support People Living with Lupus) - BTC, ETH, LTC, DAI, IOTX

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that happens when your body starts attacking your own tissues and organs. Inflammation from lupus can cause all kinds of issues like kidney failures, strokes, seizures, anemia, bleeding into lungs, pneumonia, and heart attacks.

There is no cure for lupus. Current treatments focus on improving quality of life by minimizing symptoms.

The Lupus Foundation of America works to reduce the time it takes to diagnose lupus and make sure that people with lupus have access to safe and effective treatments. The Lupus Foundation of America has also funded hundreds of research studies and fellowships to find cures as well as encouraged the US federal government to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on lupus research and education.

People with lupus are more vulnerable to infections like the coronavirus because both lupus and its treatments can weaken the immune system. The Lupus Foundation of America is working to make sure that people with lupus have access to hydroxychloroquine (a drug that’s used for lupus treatment and might be effective against coronavirus) as well as other medicines used to treat lupus.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) works to defend civil liberties in an increasingly digital world. Privacy, freedom of expression, and innovation are some of things that EFF works to preserve and enhance using grassroots activism, litigation, policy analysis, and technology development.

During COVID-19, many governments are asking for unprecedented surveillance powers to stop the spread of coronavirus. EFF wants to make sure these powers are necessary and that they’re ended when the crisis ends.

EFF also wants to make sure information about COVID-19 flows freely without government suppression.

In addition, EFF wants to support innovation that might help fight this public health crisis. As you’ll see in the next section, some of the most creative solutions are being developed by everyday people.

Also, EFF believes that governments should increase their transparency when making decisions like closing public spaces. One way in which they could do this is by broadcasting their decision making and execution processes through the use of live broadcasts or recordings.

And as you might’ve heard, social distancing and self-quarantines are causing more people to use the Internet, which slows down Internet speeds. EFF wants to support the building of faster Internet but also knowledge about Internet safety and privacy for the Internet’s many users.

  • And stripping personally identifying information from location data shared with government and healthcare professionals.
