Why is swapping unavailable in my jurisdiction?
In certain areas of the world, regulations are in place that prevent our third-party exchange API providers from legally serving customers.
In an effort to keep in line with those regulations, our third-party exchange API providers have taken additional measures that prohibit customers in those regions from making exchanges in Exodus.
When this happens, you'll see an error like this:
On Mobile, if you are in an unsupported jurisdiction, all swaps will show that they are unavailable , as seen in the image above.
Where does this happen?
- North Korea
- Ukraine: Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions
- United States: New York (NY) and Washington (WA) states
What do I do if supported assets are unavailable to swap?
In most instances, this downtime will only last a few hours. However, there are some cases in which an asset may be down for an extended period of time. In addition, if we receive reports of delays or congestion with blockchain networks, we may disable a swap within Exodus, even if it is available directly through other exchange providers. This is done to reduce any occurrences of failed swaps and to ensure a reliable experience.
For the most up to date information on assets within Exodus, we recommend you check our status page.
It is important to note that while the swap may be temporarily unavailable, this does not affect your ability to send and receive assets. You can always move your assets to any other wallet by clicking the Send tab and entering your destination address. If you need help sending assets to external sources, view our Knowledge Base article here: How do I send an asset from my wallet?
In the event the swap is unavailable, there are other options to swap your assets. Some options that offer similar services for Exodus supported assets are listed below. If you choose to conduct your swap outside of Exodus, our 24/7 support team will not be able to assist with any transaction issues. We recommend you research the reason your chosen asset is offline to ensure you won’t experience similar issues when using a different platform.
As always, if you experience any issues with swapping in Exodus, Exodus Support is available to help. You can find us here.
Why are some asset pairs not available to swap?
You will sometimes find an asset pair unavailable to swap in Exodus. This means that swapping from one specific asset (A) to another specific asset (B) is not possible, even though both A and B are available to swap with other assets.
Here is why: Exodus uses multiple third-party exchange API providers to cover a wide and reliable range of assets. However, not all assets are available all the time. If an asset pair becomes unavailable we try our best to fix this as quickly as possible.
We understand this might be frustrating, but be assured when this happens, we work with our third-party exchange API providers to fix these situations as quickly as possible. You can always do a two-step swap if timing is an issue. You also have the option to swap on another platform.
