What is WalletConnect in Exodus Mobile?

WalletConnect is an open-source protocol that securely connects a wallet to web3 apps and dApps. It acts as a bridge, enabling you to interact with web3 apps directly without exposing your private keys.

WalletConnect in Exodus Mobile is only available if you created your wallet before April 22, 2026.

If you created your wallet before April 22, 2026, then you can also connect to web3 apps with the web3 browser. To learn more, visit: Web3 browser in Exodus Mobile.

This article explains how to connect to dApps and web3 apps with the web3 browser using an existing Exodus Mobile wallet. You can connect to dApps and web3 apps by scanning a QR code, pasting a connection link, or using mobile linking.

Once connected to a web3 app, you can initiate and sign transactions from Exodus Mobile.

  • On June 28, 2023, WalletConnect updated to v2.0. When using WalletConnect in Exodus, you can only connect to web3 apps that have also updated to WalletConnect v2.0.

  • WalletConnect is not supported with the Ledger and Exodus integration.

  • WalletConnect is a third-party protocol. As such, Exodus cannot guarantee the performance of its products/services or that the steps shown and the information provided will always be accurate.


Which networks are supported?

In Exodus Mobile, you can connect to web3 apps on the networks listed below using WalletConnect.

How do I connect to dApps and web3 apps with Exodus Mobile?

With WalletConnect, you can connect to web3 apps by scanning a QR code, pasting a connection link, or using mobile linking.

How do I connect with a QR code or connection link?

This guide shows how to connect to MagicEden, but the steps are similar for other web3 apps.

Magic Eden is a third-party platform that is not affiliated with Exodus. As such, Exodus cannot guarantee the performance of its products/services or that the steps shown and the information provided will always be accurate.

  1. Navigate to the web3 app you'd like to connect to and look for the connection button, usually labeled Connect, Connect Wallet, or Log In. Click it to open the connection menu.

  2. If the web3 app supports multiple networks, a) select your network, then b) find and select WalletConnect.

  3. a) Scan the QR code or b) copy the link and paste it into Exodus Mobile.

  4. In Exodus Mobile, a) tap the Wallet icon, then b) swipe down to go to the profile screen.

  5. Tap Web3.

  6. Tap on the QR code icon in the top right corner.

  7. a) Scan the web3 app's QR code or b) tap the Paste connection link text field to paste the link copied in step 3.

  8. Exodus Mobile will ask for permission to connect. If you have multiple portfolios, you can select which portfolio to use by a) tapping the Portfolio icon and then b) selecting a portfolio.

  9. Next, Slide to approve.

  10. Exodus Mobile is now connected to the web3 app.

  11. Some web3 apps require a signature to prove you own the wallet you are connecting. This will not incur a network fee. Confirm all the details are correct, then slide the arrow to approve.


How do I connect via mobile linking?

With Mobile linking, you can use WalletConnect to connect to web3 apps without needing a QR code or connection link.

However, not every dApp and web3 app supports this feature. If you can't connect with mobile linking, you can still connect by scanning the QR code or pasting a connection link instead. To learn how, see the above section: How do I connect with a QR code or connection link?

This guide shows how to connect to Rarible, but the steps are similar for other web3 apps.

Rarible is a third-party platform that is not affiliated with Exodus. As such, Exodus cannot guarantee the performance of its products/services or that the steps shown and the information provided will always be accurate.

  1. In the web3 app on your mobile device, tap Connect a wallet or Log In, and select WalletConnect.

  2. Select Exodus as the wallet you want to connect with.

  3. If you don't see Exodus, a) tap View all, then b) search for Exodus, and c) tap on the Exodus logo.

  4. Exodus Mobile will ask for permission to connect. If you have multiple portfolios, you can select which portfolio to use by a) tapping the Portfolio icon and then b) selecting a portfolio.

  5. Next, Slide to approve.

  6. Exodus Mobile is now connected to the web3 app.

  7. Some web3 apps require a signature to prove you own the wallet you are connecting. This will not incur a network fee. Confirm all the details are correct, then slide the arrow to approve.


How do I approve a request?

When you connect to a dApp or web3 app with WalletConnect, you will approve transactions and requests from Exodus Mobile.

When approving, you'll see a prompt in Exodus Mobile showing the network used, the estimated network transaction fee, and the estimated balance change. Slide the arrow to the right to approve the request.


How do I disconnect from web3 apps in WalletConnect?

  1. To disconnect, open Exodus Mobile and a) tap the Wallet icon, then b) swipe down to go to the profile screen.

  2. Tap Web3.

  3. Tap the Connections tab in the top right corner.

  4. Tap on the connection you want to remove.

  5. Tap the Remove icon.

  6. To confirm you want to remove the connection, tap Remove.


How do I switch portfolios for a connection?

Using multiple portfolios is only available if you created your wallet before April 22, 2026.

  1. To change portfolios, open Exodus Mobile and a) tap the Wallet icon, then b) swipe down to go to the profile screen.

  2. Tap Web3.

  3. Tap the Connections tab in the top right corner.

  4. Tap the connection you'd like to manage.

  5. Tap on the connection portfolio.

  6. Tap your selected portfolio.

  7. Finally, tap Save.


How do I see my WalletConnect transaction history?

  1. To view your WalletConnect transaction history, open Exodus Mobile and a) tap the Wallet icon, then b) swipe down to go to the profile screen.

  2. Tap Web3.

  3. Tap the QR code icon in the top-right corner.

  4. Tap the menu.

  5. Tap Activity.

  6. Here you can view all your WalletConnect transactions. You can tap on each transaction for more details.
