What is Cardano staking?
When you stake Cardano, you are delegating all the Cardano in your address to help secure the Cardano network. In return, staking allows you to earn ADA rewards, which can be claimed from your Exodus wallet.
With some assets, staking means locking up your tokens for a period of time. However, this is not the case with Cardano. While staking Cardano, your ADA is not locked, and you can still send or swap it at any time.
To start staking your ADA, download Exodus.
Cardano (ADA) staking FAQs
Answers to your questions about staking Cardano (ADA) in Exodus.
Can I choose the amount I want to stake?
When you stake ADA, your entire ADA balance is staked. This means you can't choose a specific amount, it is all of your balance or nothing.
This is because staking ADA involves delegating all the ADA held in your address.
When staking Cardano, since your entire ADA balance is staked, any additional ADA you deposit to your Exodus wallet will automatically be staked. However, you'll need to wait 15-20 days before you start earning rewards from the newly deposited ADA. To learn more, visit: When will I start earning ADA staking rewards?
Can I still use my ADA when it is staked?
Yes, you can still send, receive, and swap while your ADA is staked.
Your ADA is not locked while staking.
Since your ADA is not locked, any balance changes will be reflected in the next network snapshot, which adjusts your rewards accordingly.
Which validator will I be delegating my ADA to?
When you stake ADA from Exodus, you will be supporting our third-party staking API provider Everstake.
If you would like to keep up with how Everstake votes, you can see their latest news by checking out their blog.

What is the minimum amount I need to start staking?
You need a balance of at least 5 ADA to start staking.
Are there fees to stake ADA?
Yes, you will pay a network transaction fee to the Cardano network whenever you stake, unstake, or claim rewards. In addition, there is a 2 ADA deposit to start staking, and a validator fee is deducted from any earned rewards.
Stake transaction fee: The fee when staking your ADA on the network
Unstake transaction fee: The fee to unstake ADA
Claim rewards: The fee to claim ADA rewards
Validator fee: A fee to cover the validator's operating costs. To see current fees, visit: Stake Cardano
2 ADA deposit: To register your address and start staking, a deposit of 2 ADA to the Cardano network is required. When you choose to unstake your Cardano, you will get the 2 ADA deposit back

When will I start earning ADA staking rewards?
When you start staking ADA, it will take 15-20 days before you receive your first rewards.
After you receive your first reward, you'll continue to earn rewards every epoch, which is every 5 days.
It takes 15-20 days to receive your first ADA staking rewards because you'll need to wait for the next epoch to start for your stake to activate. This can take up to 5 days, as each epoch lasts 5 days.
When your stake is active, a snapshot of your ADA balance is taken at the beginning of each epoch (every 5 days). After the snapshot, it takes 15 days (3 epochs) to calculate and distribute the rewards.
Because it takes 15 days (3 epochs) to calculate and distribute rewards, the rewards you receive are always based on the ADA balance you had 15 days ago when the snapshot was taken.
If you deposit more ADA into your Exodus wallet while staking, it takes 15-20 days before you start receiving rewards on the newly deposited ADA.
This is because the snapshot of your updated balance is taken at the start of the next epoch. It then takes 15 days (3 epochs) to calculate and distribute the rewards.
How do I check the current epoch progress?
If you would like to see the amount of time remaining in the current epoch, you can visit Cardano Explorer and look at the value in Current Epoch Ends In:
Do I need to claim ADA rewards?
No, you don't need to claim your rewards, as unclaimed ADA rewards also count toward your staked balance.
You only need to claim your ADA rewards if you want to send or swap them.
When you unstake your ADA, your wallet will automatically claim any unclaimed rewards.
What's the minimum ADA balance to claim rewards?
You need to have earned at least 1 ADA in rewards to claim them without unstaking your ADA.
You will also need an available balance of at least 0.25 ADA to pay the transaction fee to claim your rewards.
When you unstake your ADA, your wallet will automatically claim any unclaimed rewards, even if you have less than 1 ADA in unclaimed rewards.
Is staking ADA safe?
In Exodus, staking your ADA is done in a self-custodial way. When you stake, you still have full ownership of your staked ADA. No third party holds your funds while it's staked.
Your ADA is not locked while staking, and you can send or swap it at any time.
