When contacting Exodus Support, it can be helpful to include a screenshot or a screen recording of any problems you are experiencing.

In this guide, you can learn how to take a screenshot or screen recording on mobile and desktop devices.

Exodus staff will NEVER ask for sensitive information, including passwords, private keys, or secret keys. Be careful not to include your Exodus 12-word secret key, private keys, or password in any screenshot you take.

How do I take a screenshot on mobile?

iOS

The steps to take screenshots can be different depending on the iOS device you use:

  • For newer iOS devices, press the side (power) button and the volume up button simultaneously.

  • If your device has a physical home button, press and hold the side (power) button and the home button simultaneously.

    • Older iOS devices will have a top button instead of a side button.

After capturing the screenshot, the screenshot is saved to your Photos app.

Android

The steps to take screenshots can be different depending on the Android device you use:

  • For most Android devices, press the power button and volume down button simultaneously.

  • If your device has a physical home button, press the power and the home button simultaneously.

  • If none of the above works, try holding the power button for a few seconds, and if a menu appears, tap Screenshot.

After capturing the screenshot, the screenshot is saved to your Photos app.

How do I take a screenshot on desktop?

Windows

The instructions below show how to take a screenshot using Windows 11. For more information on how to take screenshots in Windows, visit Microsoft's screenshot guide.

  1. Press the Windows key + shift + s on your keyboard. Click and drag to highlight the area you want to capture. This will copy the selected area to your clipboard, and you can paste the screenshot into an email by pressing ctrl + v.

  2. If you want to take a fullscreen screenshot, click Fullscreen mode. This will take a screenshot that is saved in the screenshots folder on your Windows device.


macOS

For macOS, you can use keyboard shortcuts to take a screenshot.

  1. Press shift + command + 4 on your keyboard. a) Click and drag to highlight the area you want to capture. b) This will save the selected area as a PNG file on your desktop.

  2. If you want to take a fullscreen screenshot, press shift + command + 3. This will save the screenshot as a PNG file on your desktop


Linux

For Linux, each distribution (distro) could have a different way to take a screenshot. These instructions will show you how to take a screenshot on Ubuntu 22.04.

  1. Click on the Show Applications icon in the taskbar.

  2. Navigate to the search bar at the top.

  3. Search for "screenshot", then open the application Take a Screenshot.

  4. To capture a screenshot of a selected area, a) click Selection and highlight the area. To take a fullscreen screenshot, b) click Screen. c) Finally, click the shutter icon. This will save the screenshot to your screenshot folder. The screenshot will also be copied to your clipboard.


How do I take a screen recording on mobile?

iOS

  1. On your iOS device, swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to the Control Center.

  2. To record your screen, tap the gray record button.

  3. To stop recording, return to the Control Center and tap the stop button.

After taking the screen recording, it is saved to your Photos app.

The steps for recording your screen can vary depending on the Android device you use.

  1. On your Android device, swipe down twice from the top of the screen.

How do I take a screen recording on desktop?

Windows

There are several methods and tools you can use to record your screen on Windows.

One method is to use the Snipping Tool, a built-in Windows app for taking screenshots and recording short screen recordings.

  1. To open the Snipping Tool in Windows, press Windows Key + Shift + S. From there, a) select video recording, and b) choose whether you want to capture your entire screen or part of your screen. To capture your entire screen, click on the screen you want to record. To capture part of your screen, click and drag to select the area you want to record.
