When was the Kyber network token migration?

In April 2021, Kyber underwent an upgrade, migrating to a new smart contract.

As a part of the upgrade, the Kyber team replaced the old Kyber (KNCL) token with a new Kyber (KNC) token and made it possible to swap the old KNCL token for the new KNC token at a 1:1 ratio.

Why do I see old Kyber (KNCL) and Kyber (KNC) in my Exodus wallet?

The Kyber team has kept the same name for the new token. However, the old tokens use the ticker KNCL.

So you'll see two Kyber wallets in Exodus, one for the old token and one for the new:

  • Kyber (old) (KNCL) - old token

  • Kyber (KNC) - new token

How do I swap from old Kyber (KNCL) to new Kyber (KNC)?

Follow the steps below to swap your old Kyber (KNCL) to Kyber (KNC) with Exodus Desktop.

Desktop

  1. In Exodus Desktop, you first need to ensure that you have enabled both the old KNCL and the new KNC token. To enable them, you need to add them as custom tokens. For a guide, visit: How do I add a custom token?

When you add KNCL and KNC as custom tokens, you'll need to use the following token contract addresses:

    • Kyber (old) (KNCL): 0xdd974D5C2e2928deA5F71b9825b8b646686BD200

    • Kyber (KNC): 0xdeFA4e8a7bcBA345F687a2f1456F5Edd9CE97202

  2. Next, open your Kyber (old) KNCL wallet, a) click the menu in the top right-hand corner, then b) click Claim KNC.

  3. To swap to the new KNC token, you will need some ETH to pay network transaction fees. To confirm, click Claim.

  4. Do not close Exodus until you see the Swap Successful! screen (should not take more than a few minutes).

That's it! Once the swap is complete, you can see your KNC tokens in your Kyber (KNC) wallet.
