What is Ethereum staking?
You can stake Ethereum (ETH) and claim ETH staking rewards in Exodus Mobile.
When you stake ETH, you’re supporting the Ethereum network by helping secure and decentralize it. In return, you earn ETH staking rewards.
To get started, you’ll need a minimum of 0.1 ETH. Once staked, your ETH is locked, so you won’t be able to send or swap until you unstake it.
Staked ETH requires time to become active before it starts earning rewards. Rewards are earned daily and automatically restaked, so they compound over time. This means you earn rewards on your rewards, growing your balance faster.

Ethereum (ETH) staking FAQs
Answers to frequently asked questions about staking Ethereum (ETH).
What happens when I stake my ETH?
When you stake your ETH, you delegate it to a validator. This means you vote for and signal your trust in the validator.
Validators earn rewards by maintaining and securing the Ethereum network. Rewards are shared proportionally with everyone who has delegated (staked) ETH to that validator.
If you want an in-depth explanation of how ETH staking works, visit the Ethereum team's official documentation: Ethereum: Proof-of-stake (PoS).
Is staking ETH safe?
Staking ETH in Exodus is self-custodial, meaning you always control your crypto fully.
Your ETH is staked using smart contracts, and only you can withdraw your staked ETH and rewards. Exodus never has access to your funds.
To ensure the security of the staking process, ChainSecurity, Ackee, and Trail of Bits have performed security audits:
If you decide to stop staking, you can unstake your ETH at any time. Once you start the unstaking process, there is a variable waiting period, after which you can claim your unstaked ETH and return it to your wallet.
How does ETH staking work?
Ethereum requires 32 ETH to run a validator, but you can stake with a minimum of 0.1 ETH in Exodus. This lower minimum is made possible through pooled staking, which you can learn more about here: Pooled staking on Ethereum.org.
Even if you already have ETH staked and want to stake more later, you’ll need to stake at least 0.1 ETH again.
After staking, there’s a variable waiting period before your ETH is fully staked and begins earning rewards.
Once your ETH is staked, it will earn rewards daily. These rewards are automatically restaked, meaning they’re added to your staked balance so you can earn even more over time.
While staking is active, only your unstaked ETH can be sent or swapped
If you’ve staked ETH using a platform outside of Exodus, your ETH balance may not display correctly. In that case, you’ll need to manage your staked ETH directly through the platform you used to stake it.
Which validator will I be delegating my funds to?
When you stake ETH in Exodus, your funds are delegated through our third-party staking API provider, Everstake.
Everstake has a comprehensive guide on how they manage ETH staking, which you can read here: Non-custodial Ethereum staking.
How much can I earn from staking ETH?
To learn more about Annual Percentage Yield (APY), please visit: What is APY?
In the staking section of your ETH wallet, you can view the estimated APY.
Are there fees to stake ETH?
Yes, you will pay a network transaction fee to the Ethereum network whenever you stake, unstake, or claim unstaked ETH. In addition, a validator fee is deducted from any earned rewards.
Stake transaction fee: The fee when staking your ETH on the network
Unstake transaction fee: The fee to unstake ETH
Claim unstaked ETH transaction fee: The fee to claim unstaked ETH after the unstaking period
Validator fee: A fee to cover the validator's operating costs. To see current fees, visit: Staking Ethereum
To learn more about network transaction fees, please visit: What are transaction fees?
What is the minimum amount I need to start staking?
The minimum amount you need to start staking is 0.1 ETH.
If you want to stake more ETH later, each additional staking transaction must also be at least 0.1 ETH.
Keep in mind that you’ll also need a small amount of ETH to cover the transaction fee each time you stake.
How long until my ETH starts earning rewards?
When you stake your ETH, there is a waiting period before it becomes fully staked and starts earning rewards.
The exact amount of time it takes depends on how long Everstake, the third-party staking API provider, pools enough staked ETH to create a validator, and how many validators are waiting to stake on the Ethereum network. Exodus cannot speed up this process.
Estimated time to earn rewards = pool fill + entry queue.
Staking ETH happens in stages. To estimate the total time to stake and start earning rewards, follow these steps:
Each validator requires 32 ETH. Everstake collects staked ETH into a pool until it reaches this amount, which can take up to five days.
Example: +5 days.
Go to the Ethereum Validator Queue and note the current wait time for the entry queue. This shows how long validators are currently waiting to become active.
Example shown: +12 days and 21 hours (variable).
Add the two wait times together.
Example: Pool fill (5 days) + entry queue (12 days, 21 hours) = ~18 days.
These steps calculate an estimated maximum wait time. Note that your actual stake time to start earning rewards may vary, depending on network conditions.
Once your ETH is fully staked, your rewards will update daily, so you will continue to see gradual increases over time. View your earnings anytime in your ETH wallet's Stake section: How do I see my ETH rewards?
Do I need to claim my ETH rewards?
No, you don’t need to claim your ETH rewards manually.
Rewards accrue automatically and increase daily. They are also automatically restaked without any additional fees.
If you want to send or swap your ETH rewards, you must unstake your ETH first.
How long until my ETH finishes unstaking?
Your ETH will finish unstaking after a variable waiting period. The exact timing depends on the Ethereum network and how many validators are waiting to withdraw. Exodus cannot speed up this process.
Estimated time to unstake = exit queue wait + sweep delay + withdrawal delay + processing buffer.
Unstaking ETH happens in stages. To estimate your total unstaking time, follow these steps:
Go to the Ethereum Validator Queue and note the wait time for the exit queue.
This shows the longest time validators are currently waiting to leave.
Example: +20 days and 7 hours (variable).
Also note the sweep delay. This is the estimated maximum amount of time, based on network conditions, it could take the network to send unstaked ETH from validators to withdrawal addresses.
Example: +8.4 days (variable).
Add the withdrawal delay. Ethereum has a fixed delay of about 27 hours (256 epochs) before withdrawals can begin.
Example: +27 hours.
Add the processing buffer. It can take up to 5 days* for Everstake to process unstake requests.
*Unstaking may take longer if the amount is greater than 32 ETH.
Example: +5 days.
Add them all together.
Example: Exit queue (20 days, 7 hours) + sweep delay (8.4 days) + withdrawal delay (27 hours) + Everstake processing buffer (5 days) = ~30 days.
These steps calculate an estimated maximum wait time. Note that your actual time to unstake may vary, depending on network conditions. To learn more about this process, visit Ethereum's documentation: Staking withdrawals.
Once unstaking is complete, you'll need to claim your unstaked ETH to your wallet.
