What is INJ staking?

Staking INJ means locking up a chosen amount of your INJ. Staked INJ can't be sent or swapped.

However, you can unstake your INJ whenever you choose. INJ takes 21 days to finish unstaking.

By staking your INJ, you actively support the Injective network by allocating resources to it and contributing to its stability. Staking allows you to earn INJ rewards, which can be claimed from your Exodus wallet.

You can only stake INJ on the Injective network. Staking is not available in Exodus for INJ on the Binance Smart Chain network.

Staking INJ FAQs

What happens when I stake INJ?

Staking means pledging an amount of your INJ to a validator. This makes you a delegator.

Injective validators validate and approve transactions on the Injective blockchain. By delegating your tokens to the validator, you are voting for and signaling your trust in them.

The more transactions a validator validates, the more money they earn. From the earned rewards, they give back to everyone who delegated their INJ to them. This is how you earn rewards on staked INJ.

How does staking work?

When you stake INJ, you choose how much INJ you want to delegate to the validator.

You can stake any amount of INJ that's more than the minimum balance plus the transaction fee. The amount immediately starts accumulating rewards.

Staked INJ can't be sent or swapped.

Exodus will reserve 0.002497 INJ that stays in your wallet. This ensures that you'll have enough INJ available to pay the transaction fee when you unstake.

Staking new INJ will automatically claim any unclaimed rewards.

Which validator will I be delegating my funds to?

When you stake INJ in Exodus, you will be delegating your funds to our third-party staking API provider, Everstake.

Are there fees to stake INJ?

Yes, you will pay a network transaction fee to the Injective network whenever you stake, unstake, claim rewards, or turn auto restaking on or off. In addition, a validator fee is deducted from any earned rewards.

  • Stake transaction fee: The fee when staking your INJ on the network

  • Unstake transaction fee: The fee to unstake INJ

  • Claim rewards: The fee to claim INJ rewards

  • Enable or disable auto restaking: The fee to enable or disable auto restaking. If you enable auto restaking, you won't pay transaction fees when rewards are automatically restaked

  • Validator fee: A fee to cover the validator's operating costs. To see current fees, visit: Staking Injective

  • You will need to wait to claim your INJ rewards until you have earned enough to cover the network transaction fee, because the transaction fee is deducted from the rewards.

  • To learn more about network transaction fees, please visit: What are transaction fees?

What is the minimum amount I need to start staking?

To start staking INJ, you need to have a balance of at least 0.012497 INJ, plus enough to cover the staking transaction fee.

When staking, Exodus will reserve 0.002497 INJ to ensure you can pay the network transaction fee to unstake. This amount is locked and can't be sent or staked.

Once you have 0.012497 INJ plus enough for fees, you can choose how much to stake, as long as you leave enough for the 0.002497 INJ minimum balance requirement.

When will I start earning rewards?

You will start to earn rewards on your INJ as soon as you stake it.

If you opt into auto restaking, your rewards will automatically be restaked once they reach 0.05 INJ.

If you choose not to enable auto restaking, you can claim your INJ rewards manually as long as the amount of the rewards is greater than the claim transaction fee.

Is staking INJ safe?

In Exodus, staking your INJ is done in a self-custodial way. When you stake, you still have full ownership of your staked INJ. No third party holds your funds while it's staked.

Your staked INJ is locked, but you can choose to unstake it at any time. Note that your INJ will be available to send or swap 21 days after unstaking.
