What is the Midnight airdrop?

Midnight is a new blockchain that operates as a sidechain to the Cardano network. It focuses on privacy and data protection.

The Midnight airdrop, also called the Glacier Drop, is the distribution of the NIGHT token, which will serve as the network's main asset upon launch.

NIGHT will first be distributed as a token on the Cardano network. When the Midnight network launches, they can be used to claim mainnet NIGHT.

The deadline to claim NIGHT was October 20, 2025, for the Glacier Drop and November 19, 2025, for the Scavenger Mine.

From December 10, 2025, to December 4, 2026, if you participated in the Glacier Drop or Scavenger Mine, your NIGHT tokens will become available to redeem in four 90-day phases. To learn more, see: How does the NIGHT redemption period work?

What were the requirements for the Midnight airdrop?

The deadline to claim NIGHT from the Glacier Drop was October 20, 2025. Claiming NIGHT in this phase was only available to addresses that held a minimum of $100 worth of ADA, BTC, ETH, AVAX, BAT, BNB, SOL, or XRP during the snapshot on June 11, 2025.

The deadline to earn NIGHT by providing computational power and solving challenges in the Scavenger Mine was November 19, 2025.

If you were eligible for the Glacier Drop but didn't claim NIGHT, or if you didn't participate in the Scavenger Mine, you won't be able to redeem NIGHT.

Midnight has mentioned plans for a final Lost and Found phase, where those eligible for the Glacier Drop but didn't claim might have a chance to recover a fraction of their original allocation. However, users will need to find their own way to interact with the relevant smart contracts to participate.

Does Exodus support the NIGHT token?

Currently, Exodus does not support the Midnight network.

However, because NIGHT tokens from the Glacier Drop and Scavenger Mine are issued on the Cardano network, you can add NIGHT on Cardano as a custom token. To learn how to add custom tokens in Exodus, visit: How do I add a custom token?

Once the Midnight network launches, you'll need to use a wallet that supports the network if you want to use NIGHT on Midnight.

How does the NIGHT redemption period work?

The NIGHT redemption period started on December 10, 2025, and will end on December 4, 2026.

If you claimed NIGHT from the Glacier Drop or the Scavenger Mine, your tokens will gradually become available to redeem over the redemption period. Midnight refers to this process as thawing, which occurs in four phases. Each thaw is spaced 90 days apart and unlocks 25% of your NIGHT.

The date of the first thaw is randomly assigned to your address within the first 90 days of the redemption period, which began on December 10, 2025.

The first thaw date determines the schedule for the remaining three thaws, which occur automatically every 90 days thereafter. As a result, each address has its own unique thaw schedule.

After each thaw, you can choose to redeem the available NIGHT or wait until all of your NIGHT have thawed.

Midnight notes that the redemption portal will only be available for 90 days after the redemption period ends. To learn more, see Midnight's FAQ: How long do I have to redeem my NIGHT?

Watch out for scam airdrops

When popular airdrops happen, scammers often try to take advantage of the situation and attempt to steal funds or sensitive information from users interested in the airdrop.

To stay safe, it is important to keep the following in mind:

  • Never share your 12-word secret recovery phrase or private keys: Never share them with anyone, and never enter them into websites or online forms. To learn more, visit: How do I keep my secret recovery phrase safe?

  • Only use the official airdrop portal: Always check the website URL before connecting your wallet. Scammers often create fake airdrop websites that closely resemble the official one. For the NIGHT airdrop, be sure to use the official website: www.midnight.gd.
