How do I reset my password?

Reset and change your password in Exodus. If you want to reset your password, you will need to unlock Exodus with your current password.

In Exodus Desktop and Web3 Wallet, to reset your password, you first need to unlock your wallet with your existing password.

In Exodus Mobile, if you secured your wallet using your device’s built-in security settings, you will need to change your device settings to reset it.

How do I reset my password or device lock?

In Exodus Desktop and Web3 Wallet, you can reset your password from the settings.

To reset the password, you'll need to first unlock your wallet with your current password.

If you want to reset your password because you forgot it, then you'll need to restore your wallet to reset it. For more information, visit: How do I access my wallet if I forget my password?

In Exodus Mobile, if you secured your wallet using your device’s built-in security settings, you will need to change your device settings to reset it.

Please note that if you suspect your wallet is compromised, changing the password won’t prevent an attacker from stealing your funds if they have access to your 12-word secret key or private keys.

Mobile

If you secured Exodus with Device Lock, Face ID Lock, or Fingerprint Lock: When you secure Exodus Mobile with any of these options, Exodus uses your device’s passcode or screen unlock method to unlock your wallet. To change your passcode or screen unlock method, you need to do so in your device settings. To learn more, visit:

If you no longer want to use Device Lock, Face ID, or Fingerprint Lock in Exodus, you can disable them in Exodus settings. To learn how, visit: How do I set a strong password?

If you secured Exodus with a Passcode: If you secured your wallet by creating a Passcode Lock instead of using the same screen unlock method as your device, follow the steps below to reset your passcode.

  1. Open Exodus Mobile and enter your current passcode.

  2. a) Tap the Wallet icon, then b) swipe down to go to the profile screen.

  3. Tap Settings.

  4. To set a new passcode, you must first disable your current one. Toggle off Passcode Lock.

  5. To confirm you want to remove your passcode, tap Remove Passcode.

  6. Enter your current passcode to confirm.

  7. Once you have removed your current passcode, tap Passcode Lock.

  8. You will now be prompted to enter your new passcode and then confirm it by entering it again.

  9. Tap OK, and that is it! You have now successfully changed your wallet's passcode.


Desktop

To change your password, you first need to unlock your Exodus wallet with your current password.

  1. Open Exodus Desktop and enter your password.

  2. Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner of your Exodus wallet.

  3. a) Click the Backup tab, then under Exodus Password, b) click Reset.

  4. To confirm you want to reset your password, click Continue.

  5. a) Enter your current password and b) click Unlock Now.

  6. You will now need to create a new password. a) Enter your new password and b) click Next.

  7. a) Confirm your new password by entering it again, then b) click Done.

And that's it! You have successfully changed your wallet's password.


Web3 Wallet

If you want to change your password, you must first unlock your Exodus wallet with your current password.

If you forgot your current password, follow this guide instead: How do I access my wallet if I forget my password?

  1. Open Exodus Web3 Wallet, a) enter your current password and b) click Unlock.

  2. Next, a) click on the Profile icon, then b) click Security.

  3. Click Change Password.

  4. To change your password, a) enter your current password, b) enter your new password, and then c) enter the new password again to confirm it. When you are done, d) click Save Password.
