What is a Trezor and how does it work in Exodus Desktop?

Trezor is a hardware wallet, which is one of the best ways to keep your crypto safe.

Hardware wallets generate and store your secret key (also known as a secret recovery phrase) and private keys in an offline environment, which helps protect your funds from malware and hackers.

With Exodus Desktop, you can connect your Model T, Model One, Safe 3, or Safe 5, and your wallet will appear as a portfolio in Exodus.

You can send, receive, and swap funds from your Trezor portfolio in Exodus. To interact with your funds, it must be physically connected to your desktop device via USB, and you need to unlock it by entering the PIN.

Which Trezor devices does Exodus support?

Exodus Desktop supports the following Trezor models:

  • Model T

  • Model One

  • Safe 3

  • Safe 5

Exodus Mobile supports:

  • Trezor Safe 7.

Does Exodus support multiple accounts with Trezor?

Exodus only supports one Trezor account per asset. It does not support multiple accounts for the same asset.

If you've created multiple accounts for the same asset in Trezor Suite, they won't appear in Exodus and can't be accessed through the app.

To manage multiple accounts, please use Trezor Suite. For more information, visit Trezor's guide: Multiple Accounts in Trezor Suite.

Is my Trezor linked to my Exodus 12-word secret key?

No, your Exodus wallet and Trezor wallet are entirely separate.

Your Trezor secret key is only shown once when you create your Trezor wallet. Only this secret key can restore your Trezor wallet.

Your Exodus secret key can only recover your Exodus wallet.

Because your Trezor and Exodus wallets are not linked, it is essential to write down both secret keys.

It is not recommended to import your Exodus 12-word secret key into Trezor. Doing so removes the key security benefit of using Trezor, which is generating and storing your secret key offline.

Depending on how you setup your Trezor, you may have different length secret keys:

Why can't I view my Trezor secret key or private keys in Exodus?

Trezor only shows your secret key once when you first set it up. Trezor doesn't show you individual private keys.

After your Trezor wallet is created and set up, your secret key is stored offline on your Trezor, and viewing the secret key is no longer possible.

Because your secret key is shown only once, it is crucial to write it down and store it in a safe and secure location. Never keep any digital copies of your secret key, and never share it with anyone.

How do I update the firmware on my Trezor?
