In this article:

How does the Trezor Safe 7 integration work in Exodus?

Trezor Safe 7 is only supported on Exodus Mobile.

A hardware wallet, such as Trezor, is one of the best ways to keep your cryptocurrency safe.

Hardware wallets generate and store your secret keys and private keys in an offline environment, which protects your funds from malware and hackers.

When you connect your Trezor Safe 7 to Exodus Mobile, your Trezor wallet will appear as a portfolio in the app.

From your Trezor Safe 7 portfolio in Exodus Mobile, you can send, receive, and swap crypto.

To interact with your funds in the Trezor portfolio, your Trezor Safe 7 must be connected to your iOS or Android device using an encrypted Bluetooth connection.

To learn more about how Trezor secures Bluetooth communication with the THP security layer, visit Trezor's guide: Trezor Host Protocol (THP).

How do I set up a new Trezor Safe 7?

You can only connect a Trezor Safe 7 device to Exodus Mobile that's already been set up through the Trezor Suite app.

To learn how to do this, visit Trezor's guide: Get started with the Trezor Safe 7.

What are passphrase wallets on Trezor Safe 7 in Exodus Mobile?

Trezor passphrase wallets (also known as hidden wallets) are a security feature that lets you create separate wallets by combining your Trezor's secret key with a unique passphrase.

Each passphrase generates a separate wallet with its own addresses and balances. This lets you manage multiple passphrase wallets from a single Trezor.

When enabled, you can connect to either your standard wallet or a passphrase wallet. Each passphrase wallet you connect appears as a separate Trezor portfolio in Exodus.

To send, swap, or transfer funds from a passphrase wallet, when using your Trezor, you need to enter the exact passphrase you used to create the wallet. Even a small typo will prevent you from accessing the wallet.

If you lose or forget a passphrase, you won't be able to recover or access the wallet associated with it. Only use this feature if you understand the risks and can manage your passphrase safely.

If you're having trouble signing transactions with a passphrase wallet, see: Why can’t I sign a transaction after entering my passphrase?

You'll only be able to connect a passphrase wallet to Exodus if you have enabled the passphrase feature in Trezor Suite.

Can I see my Trezor secret key or private keys in Exodus?

Your Exodus secret key does not back up your Trezor wallet. Your Trezor's secret key is different and is only shown when you first set up your Trezor. To learn more, visit Trezor's guide: Backups & recovery.

Exodus doesn’t display your Trezor secret key or private keys.

Trezor only shows your secret key once when you first set it up. Trezor never displays individual private keys.

After you finish setting up your Trezor, your secret key is stored offline by your Trezor, and viewing it is no longer possible.

As a result, Exodus never has access to your Trezor secret key or private keys, and it's not possible to view them with Exodus.

This is also why it’s essential to write down your secret key when you set up your Trezor, and store it securely.

Never keep a digital copy of your secret key, and never share it with anyone. For more security tips, visit: How do I keep my secret key safe?

How do I restore on a new Trezor Safe 7?

Restoring your Trezor Safe 7 requires using Trezor Suite. You can download Trezor Suite from Trezor’s website: Download Trezor Suite.

Once installed, follow Trezor’s official guides to recover your wallet:

Trezor Suite is a third-party platform that is not affiliated with Exodus. As such, Exodus cannot guarantee the performance of its products/services or that the steps shown and the information provided will always be accurate.

Why can’t I sign a transaction after entering my passphrase?

If you're prompted to enter a passphrase when transacting with your Trezor portfolio, it means the portfolio was originally created with a passphrase. If you can't sign a transaction, it may be because the passphrase entered doesn’t match the one used to create the wallet.

To sign a transaction from a passphrase-protected wallet, you must enter the exact same passphrase that was used to create that wallet. If the passphrase is incorrect, the transaction can’t be signed, and you won’t be able to transact with the funds.

In this case, a) you’ll see a message saying the transaction couldn’t be signed. b) Tap Try again to re-enter the passphrase.

When entering your passphrase, make sure to:

  • Enter the passphrase exactly as you did originally

  • Avoid spelling mistakes

  • Remember that passphrases are case-sensitive

  • Know that spaces count as characters

Only the exact same passphrase will let you access your passphrase wallet and sign transactions from it. Without the correct passphrase, you won’t be able to access the wallet or its funds.

If you forgot your passphrase, try the password recovery strategies in What if I forgot my passphrase?

To learn more about passphrase wallets, visit the section: What are passphrase wallets on Trezor Safe 7 in Exodus Mobile?

What if I forgot my passphrase?

If you’ve lost or forgotten your passphrase, there’s no way to access the passphrase wallet or the funds inside without it. Here are some password recovery tips that may help you remember it.

1. Try common variations: think about how you typically create passwords.

  • Capitalization changes (e.g., Password123 vs. password123)

  • Substitutions (e.g., @ instead of a or $ instead of s)

  • Frequently used phrases, birthdays, favorite numbers, or pet names

2. Check password managers or browser storage: You may have saved your password without realizing it.

  • iCloud Keychain (for iOS/macOS)

  • Google Password Manager

  • Third-party apps like 1Password

  • Browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) password managers

3. Look through personal notes: Sometimes passwords are written down or saved in other places.

  • Physical notebooks or sticky notes

  • Notes apps with encryption (e.g., Apple Notes, Evernote, etc.)

  • Backup files in cloud storage like iCloud or Google Drive

Only the correct passphrase can give you access to your passphrase wallet. If you forget or lose the passphrase, you won’t be able to access the wallet or its funds.

Why can't I see all my Trezor Safe 7 funds in Exodus?

If your funds don't appear in Exodus after connecting your Trezor, it could be due to a few different reasons.

If you're connecting a passphrase wallet but use the wrong passphrase the first time you connect your Trezor, it will create a new, empty passphrase wallet, and you won't see your funds. In that case, you can disconnect and try reconnecting your Trezor using the correct passphrase.

If you've used your Trezor Safe 7 with other wallets and platforms like Trezor Suite, you may notice that some or all of your funds don't appear in Exodus Mobile, even though you're using the same device.

This can happen because different wallet apps can use different address formats, derivation paths, or account structures. Here's what that means:

  • Only supported assets are accessible in Exodus Mobile: For a list of all assets supported by Trezor Safe 7 in Exodus Mobile, visit: Which assets are supported on Trezor Safe 7 in Exodus?

  • Different address formats: Some wallet apps support address formats that Exodus doesn't. If your funds are on an unsupported address type, they won't appear in Exodus. For example, only Native SegWit Bitcoin addresses are supported on Trezor Safe 7 portfolios in Exodus Mobile.

  • Different derivation paths: Platforms like Trezor Suite may use a different derivation path to generate addresses. If Exodus doesn't support that path, those funds won't appear.

  • Multiple accounts or addresses for the same asset: Trezor Suite allows multiple accounts for the same asset. Exodus currently supports one account per asset, so additional accounts won't be visible.

If your assets are stored on addresses or accounts that Exodus doesn't support, you'll need to send them to the Trezor address that is supported in Exodus.

You can find the supported address for each asset in your Exodus Trezor portfolio. For more information, visit: How do I receive funds in my Trezor?

What should I do if my Trezor is lost or stolen?

If your Trezor Safe 7 is lost or stolen, it's important to move your crypto to a new wallet as soon as possible. This ensures that even if someone gains access to your old Trezor, they won't be able to access your assets.

Do not continue using the wallet from the lost or stolen Trezor. Someone who cracks your PIN and/or passphrase could access your funds.

If you have a new Trezor available:

  1. Restore your wallet on the new Trezor using your original 20-word secret key.

  2. Send your funds to your Exodus wallet or a new wallet using a different secret key.

  3. Wipe your Trezor and set it up as a new device. This will generate a new secret key.

  4. Once your Trezor is set up with the new secret key, you can send your funds back to it.

This process ensures your funds are no longer tied to the secret key from your lost or stolen Trezor.

For more information and instructions on how to do this, visit Trezor's guide: Move crypto to a wallet with a new seed.

If you do not have a Trezor available:

You can restore your Trezor wallet in a compatible wallet.

  • If your secret key is 12 words, you can restore your wallet directly in Exodus.

  • Exodus Desktop also supports 24-word secret keys. If you need help restoring a 24-word secret key, email us at [email protected] or visit the messenger (purple chat icon in the bottom-right corner) to start a chat.

After restoring your lost Trezor wallet, immediately move your funds to a new wallet with a new secret key. This helps ensure your funds stay secure.

In some cases, assets might not appear automatically after restoring. If this happens, or if you are unsure how to restore your Trezor wallet, please contact Exodus Support.
