What does syncing my wallet mean?

Syncing your wallet means having the same wallet across multiple devices. 

You can have your Exodus wallet on each of your devices! You can sync your existing funded wallet to an empty wallet.

You can always sync your wallet by restoring your 12-word secret recovery phrase into an empty wallet: How do I restore from my 12-word secret recovery phrase?

You can also sync your wallets by following the relevant step-by-step instructions below.

Exodus is available as a browser extension, a desktop app, and a mobile app. You can download Exodus Web3 Wallet, Exodus Desktop, and Exodus Mobile here.

Tablets run Exodus Mobile, so they are considered mobile devices.

How do I sync Desktop or Mobile to Web3 Wallet?

You can sync your desktop or mobile wallet to Exodus Web3 Wallet by using your 12-word secret recovery phrase.

If you sync an existing wallet to the Web3 Wallet, only assets on supported networks will be shown in Web3 Wallet.

Your 12-word phrase controls your funds, so it is important to keep it secret. Anyone with your 12-word phrase will have access to your funds, so don’t share it with anyone, including Exodus Support!

These steps are for an Exodus wallet you have just downloaded on a computer that has no funds.

How do I sync Desktop to Mobile?

You can download Exodus Mobile here.

This is to sync your funded Exodus desktop wallet to a new mobile wallet that has no crypto in it.

Open your Exodus wallet on your desktop computer, then click on the settings icon in the top right corner. Navigate to the Devices tab and click Sync. After you enter your wallet's password, you will see a QR code displayed.

Open your Exodus wallet on your mobile or tablet device that has no crypto in it.

a) Tap the Profile icon in the bottom right and then b) tap Settings.

Tap Sync Devices.

Select Computer. This will open your mobile device's camera, which you can point at the QR code displayed on your computer screen.

All you need to do now is confirm the request on your computer! Your mobile Exodus wallet will prompt you to restart, and then it will be synced to your desktop wallet.

How do I sync Mobile to a different mobile device?

You can download Exodus Mobile here.

This is to sync your funded Exodus mobile wallet to your new mobile wallet that has no crypto in it.

a) Open your funded Exodus wallet on your mobile device, tap the Profile icon, then b) tap Settings.

Tap Sync Devices.

Tap on the option Mobile or Tablet. Enter your wallet's password and you will see a QR code on the screen.

The QR code will not be shown if there are no funds in the mobile wallet. If you want to sync an empty wallet, you can use its 12-word phrase to restore your empty mobile wallet on a second mobile or tablet.

Open your Exodus wallet on your second mobile or tablet device that has no crypto in it.

a) Tap the Profile icon, then b) tap Settings.

Tap Sync Devices. This will open your mobile device's camera, which you can point at the funded wallet's QR code.

All you need to do now is confirm the request on your first mobile device, and you are done! Exodus on your second mobile or tablet will ask you to restart and sync your wallet to it.

If you have just downloaded the Exodus wallet on your new mobile/tablet device, and you can still see the Getting Started screen, you can tap I already have a wallet at the bottom, then tap Scan QR Code and choose the option Mobile or Tablet instead.

How do I sync Mobile to Desktop?

This is to sync your funded Exodus mobile wallet to your new desktop wallet that has no crypto in it.

a) Open your funded Exodus wallet on your mobile device, tap the Profile icon, then b) tap Settings.

Tap Sync Devices.

Tap on the option Computer. Enter your wallet's password and you will see a QR code on the screen.

The QR code will not be shown if there are no funds in the mobile wallet. If you want to sync an empty wallet you can use the 12-word phrase to restore the mobile wallet on your desktop.

Open your Exodus wallet that has no crypto in it on your computer.

a) Click on the Settings icon in the top right corner, b) click on the Devices tab, and then c) click on Sync.

Click Scan QR Code. This will open your computer's camera, which you can point at the mobile QR code found on your first device.

All you need to do now is confirm the request on your mobile device, and you are done! Exodus will sync your mobile wallet to your computer.


Troubleshooting

My device has a camera, but scanning doesn't work. What should I do?

Not to worry! All this means is that you already have some crypto inside both of your Exodus wallets that you are trying to sync.

All you need to do is send all of your crypto from one wallet to the other, to ensure only one wallet has crypto in it, then follow the relevant steps above!


My device doesn’t have a camera. What should I do?

If your current computer does not have a webcam available, you can still sync your wallets using your funded wallet's 12-word secret recovery phrase.

Make sure you have absolutely no crypto inside of Exodus on the computer without a webcam you are trying to sync to. This process will overwrite your current Exodus wallet on this computer.
