What is the Avalanche ecosystem?

The Avalanche ecosystem is everything built on the Avalanche network. It is comprised of Avalanche tokens, NFTs, DEXs, DeFi dApps, and every other type of web3 app you can think of.

The Avalanche network includes three blockchains that make up the Avalanche mainnet. Only the C-Chain is currently supported by Exodus. The Avalanche C-Chain is EVM-compatible and is used for smart contracts and web3 apps. The other chains, X-Chain and P-Chain, are not EVM-compatible, and are used for managing assets and coordinating validators.

The network was launched in 2020 by Ava Labs as a direct competitor to Ethereum, aiming to offer lower costs, faster transaction speeds, and a greener smart contract platform.

From building autonomous blockchains to web3 apps and NFTs, here is an introduction to everything you can do on Avalanche.

How do I connect to Avalanche dApps and web3 apps?

First of all, what are dApps and web3 apps? They're like any other app, except they're built using blockchain technology like smart contracts. Instead of signing in with a username and password, you connect with a crypto wallet.

All dApps are web3 apps, but not all web3 apps are decentralized, so 'web3 app' is the umbrella term used for any app you connect to with a crypto wallet. If you'd like to learn more, visit: What are dApps and web3 apps?
