This guide covers the most common Solana issues in Exodus and how to fix them.

In this article:

What if my Solana transaction fails to broadcast?

During periods of high activity on the Solana network, some transactions fail to broadcast. This can affect sending, receiving, and swapping SOL and SPL tokens, as well as staking and unstaking SOL.

If your transaction fails to broadcast, your SOL or tokens will not leave your Exodus wallet, and the transaction will not appear on a Solana block explorer. Your funds are safe.

What to do:

  1. Wait a few minutes, then try sending the transaction again.

  2. Make sure you are on the latest version of Exodus: How do I update Exodus?

  3. Refresh your wallet to ensure it has the latest network data: How do I refresh my wallet?

These broadcast failures are caused by the Solana blockchain during high-traffic periods, not Exodus wallet issues. It may take multiple attempts to push a transaction through.

Why did my SPL token (e.g. USDC) transaction fail?

SPL tokens like USDC run on the Solana network and require SOL in your wallet to process transactions. There are a few common reasons an SPL token transaction can fail:

  • Insufficient SOL for transaction fees: Sending SPL tokens requires a small amount of SOL for the transaction fees. A small additional amount of SOL may be required to create a token account if the receiver doesn’t already have one, so they can receive the token you're sending. You won't be able to send SPL tokens if your wallet doesn't have enough SOL.

  • Wallet out of sync: If your wallet is not synced with the blockchain, it may show an incorrect balance, leading to errors, such as messages showing that the amount you're transferring exceeds your balance. Refresh your wallet to fix this.

  • Network errors or high activity: The transaction may fail to broadcast during busy periods. Your funds remain in your wallet, and you can retry.

What to do:

  1. Ensure you have enough SOL in your wallet to cover transaction fees.

  2. Refresh your wallet: How do I refresh my wallet?

  3. Update Exodus to the latest version: How do I update Exodus?

  4. If the transaction still fails, wait a few minutes and try again.

What if my SOL or SPL token balance is missing or incorrect?

If your Solana or SPL token balance isn't showing correctly after a transaction, your wallet may be out of sync with the blockchain.

What to do:

  1. Refresh your wallet: How do I refresh my wallet?

  2. Update Exodus to the latest version: How do I update Exodus?

  3. If refreshing doesn't help, verify your balance using a Solana block explorer such as solscan.io or solanabeach.io. For more information on what to do if funds are missing, visit: What can I do if assets from a transaction are missing?

Why can't I send SOL? (small remaining balance error)

Exodus may prevent you from sending SOL if the transaction would leave either your wallet or the receiving wallet with a balance too small to be rent-exempt. Solana requires every address to hold a minimum amount of SOL to remain active on the network.

If this is the case, you'll see a warning on Exodus Mobile and Desktop, and you won't be able to send SOL.

To resolve this, either send your full SOL balance, or adjust the amount you're sending so that both the sending and receiving wallets stay above the rent-exempt minimum.

To learn more about how Solana rent exemption works, visit Solana's documentation.

What if my Solana transaction is stuck or pending?

Solana transactions typically confirm very quickly. If a transaction appears stuck or pending in Exodus:

  1. Refresh your wallet to update the transaction status: How do I refresh my wallet?

  2. Check the transaction status on a block explorer using your transaction ID: How do I find a transaction ID? You can search for your transaction ID on a block explorer such as solscan.io or solanabeach.io to check the status.

  3. If the transaction shows as failed on the block explorer but funds are still showing in your wallet, try sending again.

Why is my Solana transaction history incomplete?

If you have a larger Solana transaction history, Exodus may only display your most recent transactions.

Older transactions will gradually load. Depending on the size of your transaction history, this process may take some time. Refreshing your wallet will restart the loading process.

If you need to view your full transaction history, you can search for your Solana address on a block explorer, like Solscan. Or you can export your transaction history as a CSV file: How do I export my transaction history?

What is an Associated Token Account (ATA) on Solana?

An Associated Token Account (ATA) is a token account linked to your Solana wallet address that holds a specific SPL token, such as USDC or BONK.

ATAs are a normal part of the Solana network. When you receive an SPL token for the first time, the required ATA is automatically created. Although each ATA has its own address, the funds it holds are automatically reflected in your Solana wallet balance and managed by Exodus.

Always send SPL tokens to the Solana address shown in Exodus, never directly to an ATA address.

To learn more about ATAs, visit Solana's documentation: What is a token account?

Normally, an ATA is owned by your Solana address. However, some wallets and exchanges allow users to inadvertently send tokens directly to an ATA address, which can create a nested token account, also called a nested ATA.

Funds held in a nested token account won't appear in your Exodus wallet balance. However, in some cases, these funds can be recovered, allowing you to access them again in Exodus. See the section below to learn how.

How do I recover hidden funds on nested token accounts?

Recovering assets from nested token accounts is only available on Exodus Desktop.

If you have Exodus Mobile or Exodus Web3 Wallet, you can download Exodus Desktop and sync your Mobile or Web3 Wallet to your Desktop wallet to recover your funds.

  1. In Exodus Desktop, a) click the Wallet icon and b) select Solana.

  2. a) Click on the menu icon, then b) click Recover Nested Account funds.

  3. Click Recover funds.

Once the process is complete, your funds should appear in your Exodus balance.
